Funeral of HM Queen Elizabeth II – National day of mourning 19 September 2022

You may have seen on the news over the weekend that the Queen’s funeral will be held on Monday 19 September. As a mark of respect, this day has been declared a Bank Holiday across the country. We have received confirmation from the Department for Education that all schools will be closed for the day on Monday 19 September.

In school we continue to support the children/ young people in helping them to understand the historical significance of events in an age appropriate way. We also understand that this can be a difficult time for families who have themselves suffered bereavements.
